Moving Offices

You have outgrown your current office space and need to move. Unless you are setting up shop at one of the many serviced offices London, you and your employees (or colleagues) will be responsible for the removal of of ever item from the premises. By following the guidelines below, you should find the process relatively painless.

Delegating Duties

Unless you’re moving to a space with dedicated receiving staff such as serviced offices Victoria, you really need to get someone specifically defined as the moving day liaison. On the day, they will be responsible for keeping things moving whilst answering any questions that arise. Boxes and furniture should be clearly labelled with details of what area they should be taken to, but talking your movers through the destination will help immensely. By streamlining the moving process you can get up and running and earning as soon as possible.

Moving Specific Items

Personal items: Your personal property is not the responsibility of professional movers or even you colleagues. If you’re the kind of person who loads up a desk with trinkets or stuff like pictures, plants, clothing, cash and papers, take it home with you or pack it up and set it aside before moving it yourself.

Desks: Pack everything in and on top of your desk. Box up whatever you have. The more of it there is, the more boxes you should be separating it into and categorising (labelling as you go). Papers and manuals and pens and pencils are all there to be found.

Files: It is not necessary to empty filing cabinets, but do be sure to lock them, so the files stay in place. The transportation of certain secure or confidential files is outside the remit of this short questionnaire. Government guidelines and the data protection act will set out how these can be safely transported, and whether a secure courier may be required.

Do Not Move: Not everything needs to be moved, so mark it accordingly. Obviously bin everything you can up front, but if it’s providing a function up until the last minute, make sure it doesn’t follow you!.
