How To Sew Lined Shoe Bags For Golf, Tennis, Bowling, Gym, Dance Or Any Other Drawstring Bag
Sewing shoe bags for the guys or gals in your lifetime is an excellent gift. It doesn’t matter what sport or hobby they like or where they travel. . .a long way away or to a fitness center, shoe bags or drawstring bags be useful.
The the way to sew sewing instructions are for a lined drawstring shoe bag.
You’re designer. You’ll be able to decide the purpose, fabric, design and measurements your drawstring bag. Here are a few suggestions.
Fabrics
Use whatever fabric suits your fancy. About 1/2 yard of fabric makes one shoe bag.
Sturdier fabrics like denim, canvas, slipcover fabric, fake suede, corduroy, etc. work well for sturdier shoes.
Fine fabrics like velour, velvet, cottons, flannels, etc. are fantastic for dressier shoes.

Cut one bag while using the following suggested dimensions. Position the shoe inside and check to see whether it fits well. Add or subtract in the length or width to modify for whatever shoe or item you have.
Suggested Sizes
For 2 golf shoe bags, cut 4 items of fabric 20 inches long and 11 inches wide. Cut 4 bits of lining 19 inches long and 10-1/2 inches wide.
Note: Cut an additional drawstring bag for just a ball bag.
Two bowling shoes will go with one shoe bag. Cut 2 pieces of fabric 20 inches long and 11 inches wide. Cut 2 lining 19 inches long and 10-1/2 inches wide.
One bag could also hold 2 tennis shoes or 2 ladies sports shoes.
Gym shoes vary in proportions. For extra small or large shoes, measure round the shoe and adjust the dimensions of the pad plus seam allowances to accommodate the size of the shoe.
The best way to Sew Sewing Technique
Decorate the Shoe Bag
Result in the drawstring bag unique which has a special design or emblem. Look at monogramming the baggage or adding a sport motif applique or embroidery design previous to stitching. Place the design about 3 inches in the bottom in the center of on the list of 20 x 11 pieces.
When you finally trim the bag, place 2 bag pieces right sides together.
Measure and create a mark 5 inches down on the the top of bag on sides.
Stitch 1/2 inch seam around bag starting and stopping at this 5 inch mark. Usually do not back stitch. For that first and last inch, use short stitches.
Repeat stitching as above with the lining.
Press all seams open on bag plus the lining.
Press under 1/2 inch around the unstitched 5 inch bag side edges. Fuse or stitch to support.
Do identical to the lining.
Turn the bag right side out.
Turn the lining right side out.
Machine stitch 1/2″ at the bottom with the lining that you were building a French seam. This creates a solid edge.
Turn the lining wrong side out.
Slip the liner on to the bag in order that the top fringe of the liner is 1/2 inch below the the superior fringe of the bag.
Fold the highest fringe of the front with the bag down 1/2 inch above the lining.
Press this fold to produce a crease.
Now, bring the most notable folded pressed edge of the bag right down to meet the side edges at the end from the opening.
Pin to keep and stitch near this fold edge.
To make the casing, stitch 1″ above the prior stitching.
Repeat for the back side of the bag.
Insert Drawstrings
Use a safety pin or bodkin that can help slide the drawstrings over the casings.
Slide one drawstring over the casing of the bag front and back having ends on the same side of the bag.
Insert one other drawstring starting with the other part of the bag, sliding over the casing with the bag front and rear having ends on that side in the bag.
Tie the ends with the drawstrings together.
That completes the lined drawstring shoe bag.
Note: If the shoe bag is wide enough for two main shoes, you really should stitch up the center from the bag from your bottom up to (such as the include) the casing through each of the layers to build separate compartments for each and every shoe to hold them
from scuffing.
Pin before stitching and test to determine if you have enough room
for the shoes. Or else, you might want to boost the width
of your respective shoe bag.
