Getting Out Of The Debt Trap

By Small Business Ideas On April 18, 2011 Under Small Business

If the recent years of financial crisis around the world taught us anything it is that we must manage our finances better as there appears to be little chance of receiving large pay increases or any more governed handouts. It is now up to us to ensure that we can live on the money that we are able to bring into our households. This seemed simple although we were actually shocked to find that we were living beyond our means – that is we were spending more on living costs than we were earning. And I’m sure we were alone.

The first issue was that our income was limited by the hours we could work and the amount that we were able to earn each of those hours. The second problem was that our living expenses were higher than the amount we were bringing home in our pay packets.

The first problem “appeared” impossible to resolve – we couldn’t change this. We were already working every hour we could and earning a little more – but this little bit more was still not enough. We considered changing jobs, looking for a new workplace where we could earn more but those jobs just don’t seem out there at the moment.

The second problem appeared easier to fix. We set a budget, considering every expense and looking for ays to reduce these (and make substantial savings), we cleaned out the garage and sold excess bits and pieces and we stopped using credit cards and pay our debts off where possible. With all this changes we had expected to be able to live well within our earnings; however we kept having those one-off unexpected bills – the car recently cost $1,700 to repair, the children’s school fees have just been paid (and I mean just!! ) and are dentist bills coming up.

You can very easily get disheartened when all your efforts seem in vain and you continue to be sinking but there is absolutely no use trying to find someone else to blame and thinking “poor me”. But we still consider ourselves lucky in many respects – we have a great family were all healthy and we know how to have fun albeit now on a limited budget.

After making these significant changes to our lifestyle and not seeing this reflected on our bank statements it was disheartening however we were not prepared to give up and lose the house or worse.

We tried for the big lotto win – that did not work.

We could not cut out any more expenses so I thought again about how we can increase our income. We had looked at changing occupations, at changing employers and none of these options were going to make a significant difference. We then started to look at getting a second job or trying to do some trading on the Internet or really anything (legal of course) to try to boost our income by a few hundred dollars we needed.

It was as we were researching options on the Internet that we came across the affiliate marketing concept. We had known that there were these sort of opportunities but we had never looked into the mechanics of them – nor did we understood the opportunities, the size of the market or more importantly how easy it was to get started. The biggest problem we had was sifting through the numbers of so-called opportunities to find something that we felt comfortable with and a system that would be operational and making money within a reasonable space of time.

The great thing about A Business At Home opportunity is that we are not reporting to the boss, we are able to work from home, at hours that suit us and yet our business continues to operate 24 hours a day seven days a week and can see that we will be able to give up our day jobs and spend more time with our family doing the things which we love.

The online business we have started has enabled us to get out of a hole of debt and to balance our income and expenses without having to focus too much on cutting out our little luxuries.

These opportunities are available everywhere and to anybody who is willing to have a go.
