Getting More than just Info on the Web

By Small Business Ideas On March 27, 2010 Under Small Business

I don’t know when I last opened a telephone book. But, for some reason, they just keep coming and coming. I can’t help but think about all of the energy and resources that went into making so many phone books. So I went online recently to see if there was any way I could STOP delivery of the phone books. I actually found a site that allows people to opt out of receiving unsolicited phone books. I signed up. Hopefully I can help change things.

It’s pretty ironic that I used the internet to search for a way to stop receiving the phone book. It’s the internet that has taken over the role of “phone book” for the majority of people. Amazingly, over 80% of internet users start each internet session by searching for something in a search engine. Even when people know what they’re looking for or the specific site they want to go to, they still “search” for it in a search engine instead of typing in the URL themselves. That’s a great testimony of the power of internet search. For local business sites and listings as well, the internet is faster than looking up the same information in an old-fashioned phone book. Over 70% of internet users search for services, goods and more through local, international, and global search on multiple occasions weekly.

Local search has given small businesses (and large ones alike) the power of versatile advertising. They can update their ads as often as desired and offer information about promotions, events, and sales online. Businesses can even offer coupons online to use either online or in-store. While a lot of people will start searching for products and services online, they are still more likely to actually go into an actually store to make their purchase.

Lately I’ve really started taking advantage of the power of the web to get some great local deals. For amazing deals, check out Coupons Orange County, Coupons San Bernardino County, and Coupons San Diego County.
