Your guaranteed success in a new flea market business is bound to happen when you have  solutions to some of the following questions.

Can you locate all of the flea markets in your vicinity? You can locate all the flea markets in your nearby vicinity by getting yourself a flea market directory.

The next thing you need to do is to go and visit each one of them. After going to a few flea markets, you will start to see for yourself “what works” and “what doesn’t work”.Things that you want to be looking for is what items the flea market vendors are selling. This will give you a lot of information for products that you might want to sell. Making your decision on what items to market is definitely going to be a crucial factor.

How many sellers are there in each market? How many vendors are selling the same things? Competition is okay, but only up to a certain point.

You need to walk around and watch the dealers who are actually doing business and ringing up sales. Be sure to check out what is being carried around by shoppers. I know this sounds obvious but you have to sell goods that people want or need.

I have been a flea market vendor for over 20 years and I notice this week after week. Novices to this business often want to sell the item that is hot right now. Those products have a short life span plus all the other merchants are selling them.

Take your time in every market and really observe what is happening. Jot down some notes on a notepad on everything you think will help you. This will help you piece it all together and make sure you don’t forget something important.

Another thing of importance is knowing what days every flea market is open. You need to know how much your spot will cost. Can you get a discount if you pay by the week-end or month?

Always look around for a good spot to set up. If your booth is out of the main stream of traffic then no matter how good your products are you won’t make many sales.

You will need to check for what license is required in your county and state. Always find out from management what is required. They usually are inexpensive.

The last thing I will touch on and I won’t go into this to deep but you will need to find a wholesaler. This is an important decision because you need to find merchandise that will make you a really good profit and be able to count on your wholesaler for your merchandise week after week.
